The Meeker Youth Center (MYC) is a place where students can go after
school. At the MYC you can play ping-pong, pool, video games, and
fooseball. The MYC also has a concession stand where you can buy
drinks and other sugary foods. David Harper is the pastor and also
runs the MYC. The MYC is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. On
Thursdays, at seven-thirty, there is a church service that lasts for
about thirty minutes in which David teaches that we should not be
merely "saved peopld" but those who live wholly unto God. After the
service we have food, talk with each other, and just play around until
it is time to go home.
On Mondays and Tuesdays the MYC opens at 4:00 p.m. and closes at
9:00 p.m. Thursdays are different; it opens at 4:00 p.m. and closes at
10:00 p.m., so that we have an extra hour to play around and wait for
rides home. David's wife, Jessica Harper, who teaches at Family of
Faith Christian School, cooks the awesome food, hangs out around the
MYC, and helps supervise. The MYC is open to people in the ages of
nine and up, except on Thursdays when it is just kids thirteen and up.
The MYC has a friendly environment and fun activities. So come by the
MYC, and you'll have a blast.
